Winchelsea is a community special school committed to meeting the needs of pupils with a wide range of learning difficulties. They are heavily over-subscribed and currently have over 170 pupils on roll, aged 4–16. These pupils are supported by over 90 staff. Winchelsea also offer satellite provision for over 50 pupils at Old Town Infant School, Canford Heath Junior School and Magna Academy. In addition, they also offer post 16 provision through an innovative collaboration with Bournemouth & Poole College.

They have a committed, knowledgeable and experienced staff team and pride themselves on creating bespoke packages for pupils which meet their individual needs and prepare them for life. Whilst also creating a safe, welcoming and inspiring environment which allows the children in their care to feel secure and be successful.

They are passionate about improving outcomes for their pupils and work very closely with families, outside agencies and organisations to facilitate this. They also provide an outreach service to a wide range of local schools.

This matched funding donation from the MCF was made by possible using funds raised by Festival 25
